How to setup budget

You get to the Budgt by touching the progress button from the Overview Tab

Below is a screenshot of the Overview screen from where you can press the Budget progress button.

Its easier to explain the Budget using a screenshot so see below.

In Dough, the budget is defaulted to the month.

Sorting: The Budget is sorted on income followed by expenses. Within expenses or income, categories with a negative outcome follow positive ones.

Input: You can setup the budget for a category by touching the category and entering an amount in the input field. If you input any new amounts for a particular category touch the Save button (top right) to save the Budget.

In the screen above, the Household category has a number in red on the right because the budget was set for $50 but the expense totaled $125.32.

Tip: If you hard time viewing the screenshot above simply right click on the image and select View Image.

Below the title for a category, Dough shows the total expense for that category and the Budget for it.The second line of the Household category thus reads "$125.32 of $50.0".

Summary: The bottom portion (yellow) of the screen contains a summary that can be quite useful. On the left hand side is the total budgeted income (across all income categories) followed by total actual income (across all income categories). The difference of the two amounts is shown below the dashed line.

Similarly on the right hand side of the yellow section you can see a summary for expenses.

The summary should give you a snapshot across all categories that you can track daily or weekly to meet your budget goals.

Note: The budget progress button on the Overview screen is based on actual expenses versus budgeted expense. For e.g. If your total expense budget is $2000 and you spend $1000, the progress button will display at the halfway mark.
